ENM reorganizes for 2017

The Elko New Market City Council reorganized for 2017 as it held its annual organization of the city at its Thursday, Jan. 12, meeting.

In one resolution the council approved its official depositories with the city continuing to use New Market Bank and the League of Minnesota Cities 4M Fund. Also approved was The New Prague Times as the official newspaper and for Acting Mayor, council member Trish Timmons was appointed to the position. She will be in charge at council meetings that Mayor Bob Crawford is unable to attend.

Before approving the items the council discussed the post of Acting Mayor. Council member Joe Julius said he would like to serve again in the position. Mayor Crawford said he had nothing against Julius serving again, but suggested Timmons for the post for her activity on the council. Julius said if Timmons wanted the post he was happy to let her serve. “Trish would do a fine job with it,” he said. Julius has been serving in the position for the last two years. Timmons said she would like to serve in the post.
