Ernest ‘Ernie’ Koschade

Ernest Alan Koschade (Ernie), 54, died of natural causes on Monday, Jan. 25, 2016. A Memorial Service will be held Saturday, Feb. 6, at 11 a.m. at St. John Lutheran Church in Montgomery.

   Ernest was born January 20, 1962, at Mount Sinai Hospital in Minneapolis to Rev. Alfred and Beatrice (Weiland) Koschade, along with twin sister, Esther. His family moved to Montgomery at the time of his birth and Ernest again called Montgomery his home in the last few years.

Ernest made a career as a long haul driver, and as an independent owner/operator he worked for several companies over the years. At the time of his death, Ernest was driving for Saddath Relocation of Minnesota, an agent of Mayflower and United Van Lines. He returned to driving for them in 2013 after being with them as Barrett for many years in the 1990s. 

Ernest was awarded several safety awards throughout the years and took great pride in his work. He won the 2014-2015 runner-up award for Van Operator of the Year in the Mayflower Logistics Fleet.

Ernest is survived by his daughter, Kachine Winterfeldt, son, Matthew Koschade; sisters Miriam LeMaitre of Suffolk, VA, and Dr. Rev. Marcia Solberg (Steven) of Ishpeming, MI; brother, Mark Koschade of Longmont, CO; nieces and nephews, great-nieces and nephews; cousins in Michigan and Australia, and many extended friends and family. He was preceeded in death by his twin sister, Esther, his parents, Alfred and Beatrice Koschade, sister-in-law Kelley Koschade, grandparents, and aunts and uncles.

Memorials may be made to the non-profit organization Truckers Last Mile or to the family.
