Ernest Tikalsky, 64
Ernest C. “Ernie” Tikalsky, 64, of Belle Plaine, formerly of New Prague, died Friday, Nov. 30, 2012, at the Abbott Northwestern Hospital in Minneapolis. Ernie was born in New Prague on December 26, 1947, a son of Eugene and Emily (Horejsi) Tikalsky. A lifelong resident of New Prague, he attended St. Wenceslaus School, New Prague High School, and was a farmer. He married Patricia Speikers on March 8, 1975, in Montgomery. Ernie was a veteran of the U.S. Army and a member of the Northfield American Legion. He battled MS for 45 years and loved being with his family. He enjoyed the outdoors and fishing, and liked watching his grandchildren participate in wrestling and cross country. He is survived by his wife, Belle Plaine; children Jennifer (Bobby) Church, Jordan, and Aimee Lynn Tikalsky (and special friend Ben Robinson), Le Center; two grandchildren Taylin Rae Church and Landon Church; his mother, New Prague; and a brother Gene “Ticker” Tikalsky, New Prague. He was preceded in death by his father. Private services were held, with interment at St. Wenceslaus Catholic Cemetery in New Prague. Pallbearers were Bobby Church, Ben Robinson, Taylin, Landon Church, Aimee Tikalsky and Dennie Tuma. Arrangements were with the Bruzek Funeral Home in New Prague.
