Ethel Genelin, 90
Ethel D. Genelin, 90, of Le Sueur, died Wednesday, Jan. 26, 2011, at Immanuel St. Joseph's Hospital in Mankato.
Ethel was born in Lexington Township on November 14, 1920, a daughter of Edward and Helen (Benzick) Holicky. She graduated from Le Center High School and attended St. Catherine College. She married Urban L. Stub Genelin on February 4, 1941, at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Lexington. Ethel was a longtime employee of Green Giant and retired from the Pillsbury Company. She was active in the St. Anne's Choir, Le Sueur Garden Club, Hospital Auxiliary, C.C.W. and M.C.C.L.
She is survived by nine children Bonnie (William) Galey, Leawood, KS, Greg (Jo Ellen) Genelin, Le Sueur, Carol (Dave) Abrahamson, Alexandria, Terry (Nancy) Genelin, Le Sueur, Gery (Diane) Genelin, Le Sueur, Steve (Sandra) Genelin, Le Sueur, Janine Genelin, St. Peter, Susan (Tim) McPartland, Le Sueur, and Mary (Allen) Grieves, Le Sueur; a brother Edward Holicky, New Prague; 20 grandchildren; and 33 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband in 1998; and three infant children.
Mass of Christian Burial was held at 11 a.m., Monday, Jan. 31, at St. Anne's Catholic Church in Le Sueur, with Rev. George Grafsky officiating.
Interment was at Calvary Cemetery.
Visitation was held from 2 to 6 p.m. Sunday at the Kolden Funeral Home in Le Sueur, beginning with a 2 p.m. rosary and ending with a 6 p.m. prayer service. Visitation continued at the funeral home on Monday from 8 to 10:45 a.m.
