Eugene Ambroz, 81

Eugene S. Ambroz, 81, of New Prague, died Tuesday, Sept. 29, 2009 at Mala Strana Health Care Center in New Prague.

Born August 27, 1928 at Heidelberg, Eugene was a son of Frank A. and Josephine (Maxa) Ambroz. A lifelong resident of the New Prague area, he attended the Le Sueur County District School in Heidelberg. He served in the U.S. Navy from 1946-1948, achieving the rank of Seaman 1st Class, and was active in the drum and bugle corps. Eugene married Delores Solheid on August 11, 1951 at Union Hill. He was a welder for Continental Machine in Savage for 32 years. He was a member of the VFW, American Legion and the Knights of Columbus. Eugene was an avid outdoorsman and was an inventor of many useful items.

He is survived by children Ken (Lynette) Ambroz, Savage, Bev (and special friend Curly Schoenbauer), New Prague, Karen Thompson, Eden Prairie and Judy (Garret) Anderson-Pratt, Chanhassen; seven grandchildren; siblings Lloyd (Evelyn) Ambroz, New Prague, Leonard (Patricia) Ambroz, New Prague, Marjorie Renneberg, Sand Point, ID, Irene Benson, New Prague, Patricia Mayerhofer, Jordan and June (Sidney) Thibido, Garrison; and sister-in-law Mary Kay Ambroz, Shakopee.

He was preceded in death by his wife on May 16, 2008; a grandson Aaron Eugene Ambroz; his parents; and siblings Robert F. Ambroz and Rosemary Neisen.

Funeral services were held Saturday, Oct. 3, at 10 a.m., at St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church in New Prague, with Rev. Kevin Clinton officiating.

Interment was at St. Wenceslaus Cemetery in New Prague. Pallbearers were Paul Ambroz, Robert Ambroz, Chris Neisen, Mike Seidletz, David Mayerhofer and Dan Ambroz.

Visitation was held from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday and 7:30 to 9:30 a.m. Saturday at the Bruzek Funeral Home in New Prague.
