Filings close for township elections

The filing period for the March 7 Township elections in five area townships ended Tuesday, Jan. 11. Candidates are:

Wheatland Township

Supervisor - Gary Pavek

Treasurer - Gary Brueggentheis

Webster Township

Supervisor Lawrence McFadden

Treasurer Robert Michel

Derrynane Township

Supervisor Steve Ruhland

Treasurer Pete Nytes

Cedar LakeTownship

Supervisor Robert Puncochar

Treasurer Karen Tupy

New Market Township

Supervisor George Silverness

Treasurer David Frame

All candidates are incumbents except Pavek. Wheatland Township Supervisor Kent Jones did not file for reelection.

New Market Township will also have a question on the ballot, asking voters whether the township should increase the number of supervisors on the town board to five.

Helena and Belle Plaine townships in Scott County and Lanesburgh Township in Le Sueur County hold their township elections during the November general elections.
