Floor hockey drops pair of games

New Prague High School’s Floor Hockey team dropped a pair of games, falling to Owatonna 9-1 and Dakota United 10-3.

The Trojans, who include players from Tri-City United, Le Sueur-Henderson, Belle Plaine and Jordan high schools, will host Winona Thursday, Feb. 4, and travel to Bloomington Jefferson Tuesday, Feb. 9, to face South Suburban. They will host Owatonna Thursday, Feb. 11.

A February 2 game at Burnsville/Farmington/Lakeville was postponed due to weather and no makeup date has been announced.

Huskies 9, Trojans 1 Owatonna came at the Trojans hard and took a 9-1 win over New Prague Thursday, Jan. 21.

The Trojans' lone goal was by Charlie Zielinger, unassisted.

Goaltender Noah Hayden made 32 saves for New Prague.

“Owatonna has a very good squad,” Coach Shellie Kriha said. “They are strong at every position. They are probably the favorite to win the South Division and will do well at the state tournament.

"Our inexperience showed and we struggled to keep up to their fast pace and their level of physical play."
