Frank Holey, 93
Frank A. Holey, 93, of Montgomery, died Sunday, Oct. 4, 2009, at Fairview Southdale Hospital in Edina.
Born February 2, 1916, in Erin Township, Frank was a son of Edward and Clara (Peterka) Holey. He attended Foley's Country School in Erin Township and farmed in Rice County for many years before moving to Montgomery. He married Anna Duban on February 10, 1941, at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Lonsdale. He was a member of the Control Livestock Shipping Assn. and the Knights of Columbus. He was a supervisor of School District #46. Frank enjoyed fishing, small engine repair, hunting and Twins baseball.
He is survived by children Adeline Smisek, Lonsdale and Mary Ann (Larry) Malecha, Northfield; 10 grandchildren Brenda (Clint) Pederson, Connie Theis, Mike Smisek, Diane (David) Dodd, Pamela (Tony) Ramm, Sandy (Craig) Fossom, Mark (Shelly) Smisek, Steve (Heather) Malecha, Chuck (Jolene) Smisek and Tom (Vicki) Malecha; 12 great-grandchildren; a brother Raymond E. Holey, Montgomery; brother-in-law William Havlicek, Bloomington; sister-in-law Helen Filipek, Lonsdale; 14 Godchildren; and many other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his wife in 1988; a brother Milo; and sisters Ann Holey, Alice Moravec and Rose Marie Havlicek.
Funeral services will be held at Holy Redeemer Catholic Church in Montgomery on Thursday, Oct. 8, at 10:30 a.m.
Burial is at Calvary Cemetery in Montgomery.
Visitation was held from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Schoenbauer Funeral Home in Montgomery, with a Knights of Columbus prayer service held at 7:30 p.m.
