Girl Scouts do well at final swim meet

The New Prague Girl Scouts swim club held its last meet of the season on Saturday, July 29, at the New Prague Aquatic Center. The club starts its season the first week of June and it runs through July. The club practices two days a week and has six swim meets throughout the summer. Two of those swim meets were at New Prague. One was at the New Prague Area Community Pool and the final meet was at the city’s new Aquatic Center.

New Prague had two teams compete at the Girl Scouts swim meet on July 29: Glencoe and New Prague. Approximately 60 swimmers (ages 7-15) competed in eight events. Elise Pahl (13-14), Jocelyn Allen (11-12), and Ella Schmiesing (9-10) took first place in most of the events in their age groups. In the age 8 and under relays Khloe Resop, Casha Enge, Kendall Hauck and Isla Jung took first in the 100 Medley Relay and 100 Freestyle Relay. The team of Ella Flicek, Grace DenHartog, Karissa Allen, and Olivia Herrmann took second in both relays. In the 9-10 relays Lilly Torgerson, Ava Otteson, Ella Schmiesing, and Addison Herrmann took first in both the 200 Medley Relay and 200 Freestyle Relays.
