Girls in 3rd after Day 1 - UPDATED noon Wednesday

The New Prague Trojans were in third place after Day 1 of the Minnesota State High School League Class AAA Girls Golf meet at Bunker Hills GC in Coon Rapids on Tuesday, June 11.

New Prague shot a team score of 332, 11 strokes behind first place Edina (321). Alexandria was in second place with a 325, and Red Wing was in fourth at 337.

Trojan junior Kenzie Neisen, a two-time runner-up, shot a 72 and was one stroke behind co-leaders Alex Schmid ot Shakopee and Sarah Burnham of Wayzata. Two-time defending champion Celia Kuenster of Cretin-Derham Hall was tied with Neisen. Besides Neisen, other Trojan scores were Taylor Ledwein (77, eight place), Taylor Krouse (86), Caitie Barr (97), Danni Barr (98) and Lucy Nickolay (103). 

Five of the top 10 players in Round 1 were from Section 2AAA. Besides Schmid, Neisen and Ledwein, Chanhassen's Brenna Lervick was sixth (74) and Eden Prairie's Diane Gibas was ninth (79). 

Play will resume around noon on Wednesday. Results will be posted on this website when they are available. 

 

 

Wednesday UPDATE - The Class AAA boys and girls golf tournaments at Bunker Hills GC in Coon Rapids were delayed by weather Wednesday morning. Play resumed in late morning, with the girls tee times now 90 minutes behind schedule. They are scheduled to start at 1:30 p.m.
