Girls top Whitehawks, Lakers

The New Prague Trojan girls basketball team began the new year with a pair of wins last week, defeating Mound Westonka and Prior Lake, upping their season record to 7-4.

The Trojans were scheduled to begin their Wright County Conference East schedule this week by hosting Hutchinson (No. 3, Class AAA) on Tuesday, Jan. 12. New Prague will play at Delano Friday, Jan. 15.

Trojans 77, Whitehawks 32 New Prague broke open the game midway through the first half as they led 41- 20 against Mound Westonka at halftime, cruising to a 77- 32 win Tuesday, Jan. 5.

Three Trojans hit double figures in the game, with Taylor Hustad scoring 20, Maizie Deihl 18 and Randi Allar 10. Also scoring for New Prague were Keegan Mulvihill (8), Emily Russo (7), Josie Herrmann (6) and Emily Schmitz and McKenzie Holgate (4 each).
