Governor talks education in New Prague
Gov. Tim Pawlenty visited New Prague last week for a roundtable discussion on education.
The governor contacted New Prague Area School superintendent Dr. Frankie Poplau Monday and asked if she could set up the roundtable, which was held Wednesday afternoon at New Prague Middle School. About 45 people attended the discussion, which included administrators, teachers, parents, school board members, school board candidates and others interested in educational issues.
The governor encouraged members of the group to bring forward any issues in education that they wanted to bring to his attention.
Among the topics discussed in the hour-long session were technology, early childhood programming, the middle school concept, Q-Comp pay for teachers and school finance.
