Gymnasts dominate Missota meet; will host Section 1A meet Friday

The New Prague Trojan gymnastics team still didn't have all its parts in place, but that didn't stop the team from firing on all cylinders as they dominated the Missota Conference Championships Friday at New Prague.

The Trojans had a season-high 146.325, topping second place Northfield by more than five points. Prior Lake was third, Farmington fourth and Red Wing fifth.

Every one of the Trojan athletes finished in the top 10 in each event, and New Prague had 11 of a possible 16 top-four placings in the meet.

Senior Heidi Kick, recovering from a knee injury, competed in only two events, but her routine on the uneven bars was anything but routine. Kick had a nearly flawless performance on the bars, scoring a school record 9.85. She is the defending state champion in that event.
