Gymnasts top Glencoe-Silver Lake

The New Prague Trojan gymnastics team hosted its final home meet of the season Thursday, Jan. 25, with Glencoe- Silver Lake visiting the New Prague Gymnastics Center.

The Trojans came out on top in the meet by a score of 136.35-120.225.

"It was a little better meet than we’ve been having," said Trojan Coach Doug Amundsen. "Scores were closer to what we have been wanting. We are working on a few new skills that we were able to try during the meet. Hopefully in the next week of practice we find more consistency with them."

The Trojans’ Allie Eischens placed first in all three events she was entered in. She had an 8.925 on bars, 9.15 on beam and a 9.225 on floor. Caitlyn Pint also had a first place finish for New Prague, with a 9.0 on the vault.

Taking second for the Trojans were Grace Montgomery on vault (8.8), Emmalyn Dickerson on bars (8.425) and Lauren Kitner on beam (8.35).

Placing third for the Trojans were Sophie Guerrette on vault (8.725), Tina Shimota on bars (8.15), Dickerson on beam (8.325) and Belle Clancy on floor (8.65).

Fourth place finishes came from Pint on bars (7.475), Clancy on beam (8.0) and Shimota on floor (8.5)

Placing fifth for the Trojans was Shimota on vault (8.65).

Sixth place finishes were by Janay Copeland on beam (7.675) and Pint on floor (8.0).
