Higher sewer rates proposed
Increased sewer rates have been proposed by the Waterville City Council to help pay for the city’s new wastewater treatment facility.
The city took out a $7,402,633 low-interest loan from the Public Facility’s Authority to pay for the $12.314 million project and will receive a $6,019,590 in grant funding. The financing package requires the city to pay an average yearly debt service charge of $287,000. The city council has proposed increasing sewer rates to cover the increased sewer expenses.
