Holy Cross School holds grand opening

Three years of planning were realized Saturday morning, Oct. 15, as staff, students, alumni, parishioners, and community residents gathered to celebrate the grand opening of the new LNMV Catholic Education Center and Holy Cross School located in Webster.

Construction on the project began last fall on the facility that currently accommodates 228 students in pre-kindergarten through eighth grades.

The celebration began with a ribbon cutting ceremony with Father Sauber from Immaculate Conception Church in Lonsdale, Sister Dominica Brennan from St. Nicholas in New Market, and Father Lapensky from Most Holy Trinity Church in Veseli.

With more than 500 community members in attendance, the keys to the building were presented to the attending clergy, Principal Vicki Marvin and the steering committee members by the designers of the facility, ATS&R Architects.

Following the traditional grand opening ceremonies, two students from each grade presented a time capsule their classes put together last spring for the event. Some of the items contained in the time capsules were class pictures, written thoughts, lists of student favorites, a new Minnesota quarter, part of the cut grand opening ribbon, and many other meaningful keepsakes offered by the LNMV students.

The capsules will be sealed behind the cornerstone of the new school to be found by future generations many years from now
