It’s County Fair season!

Next week, the Rice County Fair begins its six-day run in Faribault on Tuesday, July 18 through Sunday, July 23. A few days later, on Wednesday, July 26, the fun begins in Jordan at the Scott County Fair, July 26-30. Then, the Le Sueur County Fair begins its four-day run in Le Center on Thursday, Aug. 17 through Sunday, Aug. 20.

The County Fair is a great tradition, with people of all ages gathering to enjoy the food, rides and games, entertainment and displays, and to get a look at all of the projects 4-Hers have been working on, some for the better part of a year. Whether you’re into watching the smash-up antics at the demolition derby or enjoy a horse show, like looking at canned goods and fresh-baked pies or eating a corn dog or cotton candy, the county fair will certainly have something you’ll find to your liking.

Whether you’re a lifelong city-slicker or someone who was born into the farming lifestyle, It’s always fun to gather and see all of the exhibits and experience all of the fun.

Organizers at each of the fairs have been hard at work trying to make the fair something for everyone. We encourage you to get out to one, or all of the three local fairs, or check out the dates of county fairs in other parts of the state.

The State Fair may bill itself as the Great Minnesota Get-Together, but the county fairs are a great place to gather as well.
