James Cotten

James Truman Cotten, 77, of Montgomery, died on Monday, Nov. 28, 2016 at his home in Montgomery. Visitation was held on Sunday, Dec. 4, 2016 from 1 to 2 p.m. at St. John Lutheran Church in Montgomery. Memorial service followed at 2 p.m.
Jim was born on October 20, 1939, to James and Cora (Davidson) Cotten in Anadarko, OK. He graduated from Cyril, Oklahoma High School. He was united in marriage to Janet Edwards in Nashwa, Iowa in the Little Brown Church on May 20, 2006.
He was a very talented man who was able to do anything. His passion was motorcycle riding and traveling. He and Jan wintered in Arizona after retirement. He loved playing golf, playing pool, but most of all he loved his granddaughters.
Jim is survived by his wife, Jan Cotten of Montgomery; son, Steven (Shari) Cotten of Rosemount; step-daughter, Jill (Bryan) Downey of Denver, CO; and granddaughters, Kristine Cotten and Evelyn Downey.
Jim is preceded in death by his parents; sons, Allen Cotten, and E.J. Cotten; sisters, Alta Wilcox, Kathryn Farris, Marie Redin, and Eva Jensen.
In lieu of flowers memorials are preferred to the Pediatric Brain tumor Foundation in Ashville, NC or the Shetek Lutheran Ministries in Slayton, MN.
