James Douda, 84

James Edward Douda, 84, of Lonsdale, died Wednesday, April 28, 2010, at his home.

He was born November 9, 1925, in Lonsdale, a son of James J. and Dorothy (Sevcik) Douda. He was a lifelong resident of Lonsdale. On October 23, 1948, James married Gladys Blaha at Most Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Veseli. He was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, the Lonsdale American Legion and the Knights of Columbus. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II.

He is survived by his wife of 61 years; children James F. Douda (Candy Braun) and Gladys Cisco Perry; grandchildren James Perry, Scott Douda and Robin Douda; great-grandchildren Roni and Rhett Douda; a brother George (Marion) Douda; brother-in-law Charles (Alice) Blaha; and by other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; sisters Adeline (Raymond) Kasparek, Dorothy (Robert) Sticha and Janice Douda.

Mass of Christian Burial was held at 10 a.m., Tuesday, May 4, at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Lonsdale.

Interment was at Calvary Cemetery in Lonsdale, with military honors provided by the Lonsdale American Legion. Pallbearers were Bob and Gary Sticha, Don Cervenka, Pat Simon, James Perry and George Douda. Visitation was held from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday at the White Funeral Home in Lonsdale, and Tuesday one hour prior to the service.
