James Gregor, 67
James Joseph Gregor, 67, of Stromsburg, NE, died Monday, Dec. 13, 2010, at his home.
James was born March 4, 1943, in New Prague, a son of Ambrose and Mary (Kotek) Gregor. He graduated from Montgomery High School and attended Moorhead University. He then transferred to Mankato State College, where he received his BA in Business and Accounting. He served four years in the U.S. Navy, and married Kathie Ann Phillippe on May 20, 1971, in Las Vegas, NV. Jim was the owner/manager of the Safari Restaurant and Night Club in Fremont for three years. The family then moved to Mankato, where Jim was employed with the Mankato Free Press. He then joined the U.S. Army, serving at Fort Carson, CO. The family returned to New Prague, where Jim worked for International Multifoods (ConAgra). They later returned to Colorado, where Jim began driving over the road trucks for Interstate out of Tacoma, WA. They then moved to Stromsburg, and Jim continued truck driving until retiring in March of 2009. He took a year off, and in March of 2010 he began working for Tenneco Production in Seward until his death. He attended St. Vincent's Catholic Church in Osceola. He enjoyed walking his dog, Shelby, camping, hunting and bowling.
He is survived by his wife; four sons Kirk (Michelle) Gregor, Dalbo, MN, Kraig (Mary) Gregor, Lonsdale, Brett (and fiancé Leigh) Gregor, Nevada, IA and Clint Gregor, Lafayette, CO; brothers Dale (Sue) Gregor, Faribault, Cletus (Jeanie) Gregor, Kilkenny and Dick (Margie) Gregor, Montgomery; four grandchildren Matt Gregor, Kristin Gregor, Sam Gregor and Megan Gregor; and several other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by an infant son Jared; his parents; and two brothers Darrel and Duane (Louie).
Funeral services were held Friday, Dec. 17, at 10 a.m., at St. Vincent's Catholic Church in Osceola, with Rev. James Cooper officiating.
Inurnment will be held at Calvary Cemetery in Montgomery at a later date. Visitation was held from 4 to 6 p.m. Thursday at the Dubas Funeral Home in Stromsburg.
