Jane F. Sybilrud, age 83, of Waseca, MN, passed away peacefully on Friday, February 26, 2016 at her home in Waseca, following an extended illness.
Memorial Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, March 5, 2016, at 11 a.m. at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Waseca, with Fr. Gregory Leif, pastor, officiating. Interment at Calvary Cemetery in Waseca will be held at a later date. Memorial visitation will be held at the McRaith Funeral Home & Crematory in Waseca on Friday from 4 - 8 p.m. and on Saturday for one hour prior to the services at the church. The Catholic Daughters will recite the rosary at 3:45 p.m. on Friday and parish prayers will be held at 8 p.m.
Jane Frances was born on September 30, 1932 in Waseca to Edward and Lina (Ehlenz) Bower. She graduated from Sacred Heart High School with the class of 1950. Jane was united in marriage to James Sybilrud on January 26, 1952 at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church. While raising her family, Jane also worked at Bird's Eye in Waseca for over 25 years. She also dedicated herself to the Holy Spirit Retreat Center, serving on the board and volunteering for numerous activities. She was also a member of the Catholic Daughters.
Jane treasured her time at the lake, hosting many family gatherings. She enjoyed cooking, gardening, and her numerous flower pots. She loved to travel, walking, classical music, following her children and grandchildren's activities, and shopping with her sisters. One of Jane's qualities was that she was a giver in life, which made her well-liked by many.
She is survived by her five children, Jan Kolb, John (Linda) Sybilrud, Jay (Beth) Sybilrud, Mark (Kristy) Sybilrud, and Mary (Phil) Horwath; 10 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; sisters, Bonnie Kastner, Helen (Roland) Berry, Gloria (Brian) McLoone, and Barb (Jack) Kritzer; and many other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband, James on May 29, 1993; parents, Edward and Lina; brothers, Jim Bower and Tom Bower; sister, Mary Haines; brother-in-law, Rex Kastner; and father and mother-in-law, Helmer and Myra Sybilrud.
