Janet Rezac, age 70

Janet Rezac, age 70, of New Prague, died peacefully at home surrounded by her loving family on Saturday, May 21, 2016. Janet was born on August 17, 1945, a twin daughter of Clarence H. and Mary Ann (Breimhorst) Lambrecht. The twin girls, Janet and Joyce, were welcomed home by siblings Helen, Robert, and Marlene. Her first years were spent in St. Thomas and St. Patrick, where she attended a oneroom country school. She had 4 students in her grade and 1 teacher for all 8 grades. Janet made her First Holy Communion at the Church of St. Patrick on May 16, 1954, along with three other children. For 5th grade, she moved to St. Wenceslaus Catholic School, graduated from there in 8th grade and then attended New Prague High School, graduating in 1963. She was Homecoming Queen her senior year. When she turned 16, she began working at Queen of Peace Hospital in the dietary department as a dietary aid; she would remain employed there until her retirement 47 years later.

Janet met the love of her life, her future husband, Terry, at a church-sponsored outing at a skating rink in Le Sueur, MN. Janet and Terry E. Rezac married at St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church on November 27, 1965. They were blessed with 4 beautiful children, Mark, Michelle, Todd, and Kimberly. In 1976, Janet and Terry rented a motor home with Grandma and Grandpa Rezac and drove out to California to visit relatives. They also traveled to Hawaii twice, Arizona, Washington DC, and Florida. In 1993, they purchased a cabin on Farm Island Lake near Aitkin, MN and enjoyed many wonderful times there with family and friends. After Terry retired in 2009, they spent time during the winter months at their condo in Ft. Myers, FL.

Janet was a member of the Fatima Cell on Wednesday morning at St. Wenceslaus and a member of St. Wenceslaus CCW. She loved playing cards, walking, and reading. Janet was known as being very organized but perhaps her greatest characteristic was that of being selfless, always putting others first. She fought cancer with a quiet strength, still putting everyone else before herself. Her first priority was always time with her children and grandchildren.

Janet is survived by her loving husband, Terry of New Prague; children, Mark (Cheryl) Rezac of New Prague, Michelle (Dean) Simon of Lakeville, Todd (Monica) Rezac of Littleton, CO, Kim (Jim) Bastyr of Prior Lake; grandchildren, Anni, Emily, Lilly, Olivia, Whitney, Sydnee, Brooke, Brady, Willie, and Henry; twin sister, Joyce Hertaus of New Prague; brother, Robert (Linda) Lambrecht of Branson, MO; brothers-in-law, Ronald Zaun of Lakeville, Jim (Judy) Kubes of New Prague. She is preceded in death by her parents; sisters, Helen Zaun & Marlene Kubes; brother-in-law, Ray Hertaus.

Mass of Christian Burial was held Thursday, May 26, 2016, at 10:00 AM at St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church with Father Kevin Clinton officiating and Father Larry Johnson concelebrating. Visitation was Wednesday from 4 - 8 PM and Thursday morning from 7:30 - 9:30 AM at Bruzek Funeral Home. Burial took place in the church cemetery followed by lunch at the KC Hall.
