JM ends Trojan season

Rochester John Marshall’s Matthew Hurt showed why he is considered one of the best players in the state as a sophomore. He scored 37 points, collected 13 rebounds, blocked six shots and had three assists as the Rockets defeated New Prague 61-45 Saturday at the Mayo Civic Center in Rochester.
New Prague trailed by as many as seven points in the first half, but went on a late surge and led by two at halftime. However, the Rockets took command in the second half and kept the Trojan offense away from the basket.
Jared Milinkovich had nine points for the Trojans, while Jacob Milinkovich, Zach Hansen and Tyler Kemp each had eight for New Prague. The Trojans finish the season with a 23-5 record.
John Marshall and Lakeville North will meet Friday, March 17, at 8 p.m. at the Mayo Civic Center for the Section 1AAAA championship. This is the fifth straight year those two schools have met in the section finals.
