Joanne Mae Hillstrom, 85

Joanne Mae Hillstrom, age 85 of Le Sueur formerly of Belle Plaine, died Friday, December 15, 2017 at the Minnesota Valley Health Center in Le Sueur. Memorial service will be 11:30 a.m. on Saturday, January 13, 2018 at the First Presbyterian Church in Belle Plaine with lunch to follow at the church. Rev. Diane Goulson will officiate. Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. until service time at the church on Saturday. Interment will take place at a later date in the Oakwood Cemetery in Belle Plaine.

Joanne was born on May 10, 1932 to Joseph and Anna (Lunak) Dvorak in Jordan, MN. She graduated from Jordan High School in 1950. She married Neal Hillstrom on September 23, 1950 in New Prague, MN. The couple farmed in Carver County for many years. Joanne was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Belle Plaine. She enjoyed baking, crocheting, growing African Violet flowers, and especially being a Grandma.

Joanne is survived by her children, Russell (Kathy) Hillstrom of Belle Plaine, Douglas (Suzanna) Hillstrom of Belle Plaine, and Anne (Sean) Keenan of Bloomington; grandchildren, Brian (Sheila) Hillstrom, Neil Hillstrom (special friend, Tom), Andrew Hillstrom (special friend, Lydia), and Natalie Hillstrom; great-grandchildren, Steven, Tyler, and Eleanor Hillstrom; sister, Ruth Dvorak of New Prague; brother, Joe Dvorak of Jordan; sisters-in-law, Mary and Lois Dvorak both of Henderson; and many nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Neal in 2015; brothers, Roger and Robert Dvorak; niece, Stacy Dvorak; and sister-in-law, LaVene Dvorak.

In lieu of flowers memorials preferred to the family to go towards the Arthritis Foundation, Cedar Valley Church Prayer Shawl Ministry, and the local Food Shelf.
