A group of about 20 New Prague families experienced an F1 tornado that ripped through their campground while on vacation in Wisconsin last week...The house and 400 acres of farmland belonging to the late Francis and Elizabeth Doyle will become part of the new Doyle-Kennefick Regional Park in Cedar Lake Township...Fire severely damaged the Dave Monnens and Rachel Meger home in Heidelberg, between New Prague and Montgomery Sunday evening, but no one was injured...Former New Prague High School tennis player Jon Henning earned All-Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference honors while playing with the tennis team at Hamline University.

Darren Kermes joined the New Prague Area Schools in June as the new Special Services Director...The New Prague City Council discussed the possibility of including a referendum about parks on the November ballot...The New Prague Police Department reported a rash of 11 thefts from vehicles in New Prague since late June...New Prague’s Al Weeman helped lead the Metro All Stars to a 26-13 win over the Out-State All Stars in the 31st annual Minnesota High School All-Star football game in June.

Union Pacific Railroad will be replacing old wooden ties this summer, beginning north of New Prague and proceeding south to Montgomery...A groundbreaking ceremony was held for the new Parkview Medical Clinic on July 7...Volunteers in New Prague and Lonsdale are preparing to host the Third District American Legion Baseball Tournament...The D-R-S Shakopee Coyotes have been ruled ineligible for the playoffs for having and using an unsigned player.

The New Prague City Council discussed a possible park referendum to finance the construction of an athletic field and changes to Memorial Park...After more than a year of searching for a merger partner, Catholic Workman Fraternal Life Insurance, based in New Prague, has agreed to be purchased by First Catholic Slovak Ladies Association of Cleveland, OH...The Lonsdale city council received information on the proposed Lonsdale Clinic, which Northfield Hospital is proposing to build...New Prague’s 17-Under baseball team left last weekend for the National USSSA World Series in Lexington, KY.

Arnie and Ann Schoenbauer will serve as the grand marshals for the 2004 Parade of Farm Pride during New Prague’s Dozinky festival on September 18...The School Task Force, made up of 30 community members, will hold its first meeting on July 29...“Fiddler on the Roof,” presented by Generations Theatre Company, begins its two-weekend run on Friday...Union Hill’s Bulldogs finished in first place in the White Division standings of the D-R-S league by one game over Montgomery.
