July fireworks will light up the night

There will be parades, baseball games, food and especially fireworks as area communities celebrate the Fourth of July. There will be two nights to marvel over fireworks and enjoy activities on Sunday, July 3 and Monday, July 4.

New Prague New Prague’s fireworks will light up the sky at 10:10 p.m. Sunday. New Prague Ceska Louisville (NPCL) Mutual Insurance Company is the main sponsor for the annual evening of colorful pyrotechnics with support from other local businesses. Food vendors will also be on site, starting at 7 p.m. The display takes place east of New Prague Middle School along Columbus Avenue N. The New Prague based choir Hymnus begins the program by singing the National Anthem.

Lonsdale Lonsdale also has fireworks on Sunday. Before the big show the Lonsdale Aces will host the Veseli Warriors at 7:30 p.m. at Trenda Field in the annual matchup of the two DRS teams. The fireworks display will follow the game and be launched from the southwest area of town.

Veseli Veseli’s 37th annual Fourth of July Celebration is on Monday and promises fun, food and festivities. The Veseli Area Lions Club is sponsoring the day long event, beginning at 1 p.m. with Kid’s Activities and Music in the backyard of Brewster’s Bar & Grill. There will be games and music by DJ Barry’s Beats. At 3 p.m. will be the parade with cash prizes for an array of themed parade entries. The Kid’s Pedal Tractor Pull follows at 5 p.m. and at 7 p.m. the Veseli Warriors and Lonsdale Aces face off for their second game of the holiday at the DRS Field. Fireworks begin at “Dark-thirty” on the west end of town.

North Morristown North Morristown will also feature a day of events on Monday with its 124th annual July 4 celebration. Advertised as the oldest Fourth of July celebration in the state, there will be the Firecracker 5K Run and Walk, plus music, games, children’s rides, food, a parade, a patriotic program and fireworks at 10 p.m.

Elysian Elysian will hold its annual celebration over several days beginning on Friday, June 24, through Monday, July 4, including events on Saturday, July 9. The community’s fireworks will be 10 p.m. on Friday, July 1, over Lake Francis. Over the days of the celebration there will be a pageant, silent auction, food, car show, flea market, dance, and games. On July 4 is the Lake Francis Boat Parade at 10 a.m. and the Grand Parade at 2 p.m.

Prior Lake The Prior Lake Association will host its annual boat parade at 1 p.m. Monday on Upper Prior Lake. A display of fireworks will be held after 10 p.m. on Lower Prior Lake, providing excellent views from almost anywhere north or west of Lakefront Park.

Shakopee Mdewakanton Sioux Community Also on Monday, the Shakopee Mdewakanton Sioux Community welcomes the public to its annual free fireworks display at 10 p.m. at the Wacipi (Pow Wow) Grounds in Shakopee.

Mystic Lake Mystic Lake Casino Hotel will have its Rock and Rockets Fourth of July Celebration. Held at the parking lot between Mystic Lake and Little Six, this is a free for all ages event, that begins at 5 p.m. Monday and includes music, food trucks and fireworks
