Junior varsity girls win at Shakopee Invitational
New Prague's girls cross country team did not field a full varsity at the Shakopee invitational, with several varsity runners missing the meet. However the Trojan JV team won the meet.
In the varsity race, the Trojans' Courtney Kotek was 25th in 16 minutes, 21.9 seconds. Lauren Schoenbauer was right behind, finishing 26th in 16:25.4. Korey Wilson was 39th in 17:00 and Anna Rynda was 45th in 17:17.
Shakopee's Maria Hauger won the meet with a time of 14:22.3.
Prior Lake won the meet with 37 points, followed by Monticello (55), Shakopee (132), Red Wing (135), Waconia (140), Holy Family (150), Farmington (157), Mound Westonka (170) and Northfield (179).
In the JV meet New Prague finished on top of a 9-team field with 54 points, edging Monticello by one point. They were led by Maria Friedges (3rd, 17:05.3), followed by Sarah Allen (7th), Kailee Oram(13th), Jacelyn Peabody (15th) and Nikki Russell (16th). Other Trojan runners were Elizabeth Nuetzman and Hallie Tietz.
The race served as a final tuneup for the Section 2AA meet, which will be held Thursday, Oct. 29, at Eagle Creek Golf Club in Willmar.
