King M. Weeman, age 88

King M. Weeman died peacefully after a short illness on November 21, 2016 at Mayo Health Care Systems in New Prague, MN. He was 88.

King was born in Green Bay, WI on December 12, 1927, attended schools in Green Bay, Howe, IN, Shawano, WI and the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor. He served two years in the U.S. Marine Corps. He declined an appointment to the U.S. Naval Academy in Annapolis to marry the love of his life.

On October 22, 1949 he married his lifelong partner, Audrey. They made their home and raised their family in Shawano, WI where King was employed as General Manager of the Shawano Canning Company (family business started by his grandfather) until 1972 when they purchased the Dairy Queen in New Prague, MN.

King was an avid golfer, started playing as a caddie in high school scored 3 holes in one on 3 different golf courses and continued shooting his age until his late 70’s. He loved the Green Bay Packers and liked to tell the story about how Curly Lambeau bounced him on his knee at the family soda fountain/ pharmacy that was located in the same office building where the Green Bay Packers had their corporate offices. He and Audrey loved to travel covering much of the U.S. and Mexico by automobile. King often joked that he wouldn’t travel to Europe until they built a bridge. However, many trips were made to Europe, Thailand, Hawaii, & Panama.

A man of strong faith, King was very active in the Lutheran church, serving as usher and on the board of directors of the Interfaith Social Action Council of Sun City Center, FL. He is survived by his wife Audrey, son Tim (Jan), daughter Mary Ellen Weeman (Craig Sindelar), grandsons Chris Weeman (Amber), Allan Weeman (Julie) and two great grandsons Zach and Caleb Weeman.

A private, Christian burial will be at the family lot at the Woodlawn City Cemetery in Shawano, WI at a later date.
