Kraft named new swim coach

Sonja Kraft has been named the head girls swimming and diving coach for New Prague High School for the 2009 season.

Kraft accepted the job last week, pending school board approval. She is a 1986 graduate of Minot, ND, High School and a 1992 graduate of North Dakota State University, where she earned a degree in architecture with a concentration in public relations.

Kraft was a member of her high school and college swim teams and earned 5 school swim records during her collegiate career. She resides in Shakopee with her husband Kenneth and two children.

She replaces Julie Hull, who resigned after two seasons.

She is one of three new varsity coaches for the fall season. Angela Andersen is the new volleyball coach and Jim Benick is the new football coach.

All fall sports will begin practice on Monday, Aug. 17. A pre-season meeting for all fall athletes will be held at 6:30 p.m. Monday, Aug. 10, at the New Prague High School auditorium. More information will be in next week's edition of The New Prague Times.
