Le Sueur Co. Board OK's personnel recommendations

Jake Keohen, Staff Writer

Recommendations of Personnel Coordinator Cindy Westerhouse were approved by the Le Sueur County Board of Commissioners as part of the meeting agenda for Tuesday, Jan. 6.

Personnel items included:

-Grant permanent status to Dennis Androli, full-time maintenance worker in the highway department, following completion of six-month probationary period; and Debbie Serich, full-time financial assistance supervisor in the human services department, following six-month probation.

-Hire Rayne Nolte, part-time jailer/dispatcher in the sheriff's department, hired in October, to a full-time temporary position of 30 hours per week.

-Accept termination of an employee effective February 1, 2009 (employee identified by number only).

Also at the Jan. 6 meeting:

• County Engineer Darrell Pettis presented his monthly report of highway department activity and plans for future projects. Discussing maintenance including plowing and salting of roads following weather conditions of rain-sleet-ice, Pettis said the county has the resources to apply salt to all bituminous roads. However, he cautioned when temperatures drop to zero and lower, the salt does not activate and can result in slippery conditions. On the engineer's recommendation, final payment to River Ridge Construction of Morton for work on CSAH 3 and CSAH 15 bridges was approved by the board.

• The 2008 annual report from the county assessor's office was presented to the board for review by Shayne Bender, assistant county assessor.

• Following request of Jim Mladek, president of the Le Sueur County Historical Society, the board approved payment of $28,000, which is the balance of the 2008 allocation for the society, pending receipt of inter-governmental agreement.
