Leonard A. Lapic, 76

Leonard A. Lapic, 76, life-long resident of New Prague, died on Thursday, June 16, 2005, at his home.

He was born in New Prague on June 20, 1928, to Alois and Ida (Kes) Lapic. He attended Rice County District 71 School, St. Wenceslaus Catholic School and New Prague High School. He was a PFC in the Army and served in Alaska.

Leonard married Luella Choudek on June 14, 1951, in Montgomery. He was an auto mechanic for New Prague Motors and Pat O’Connell’s Garage, both in New Prague, and Highway Motors in Montgomery. He also did lawn care in New Prague and delivered flowers for over 10 years for New Prague Floral. Leonard was a member of the American Legion and the 196th “Arctic Warriors” Veterans Group. He enjoyed amateur photography and was an avid fan of old time music. He volunteered to maintain the New Prague Ball Field.

He is survived by his wife; children, Denise (John) Murphy, Eden Prairie, David Lapic, Inver Grove Heights, Dale (Kathy) Lapic, New Prague; eight grandchildren; one sister, Lorraine (Cyril) Bisek, New Prague; sister-in-law, Bernice Lapic, New Prague.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Richard Lapic.

Visitation was from 4 to 8 p.m. on Sunday and 7:30 to 9:30 a.m. Monday at Bruzek Funeral Home in New Prague.

Funeral services were held at 10 a.m. on Monday at St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church in New Prague. Rev. George Freeman officiated.

Pallbearers were William Murphy, Tyler and Darren Lapic, Nicholas, Derek and Drew Fautsch.

Interment, with military rites, was at St. Wenceslaus Catholic Cemetery in New Prague.
