Local anglers catch monstrous muskies

Gene Schmid of New Prague and his sons Eric and Phil took what they call their annual birthday trip to Leech Lake from October 10 to 12, where they caught two huge muskies.

Both monstrous fish were caught and released on October 11. The trio began the morning at Kabekona Bay of Leech Lake. The first musky was 39 inches long and weighed 15 pounds, and was caught in about six feet of water in weeds.
