Local family has three generations of service

Zack Tupy, grandson of George Tupy of New Prague, is the third generation of his family to volunteer to serve in the U.S. Armed Forces. He is currently serving in the Air Force and is stationed in Tucson, AZ. His parents Tom and Rebecca Tupy, who live in Phoenix, AZ, both served in the Marines and Zack’s grandfather George Tupy served in the Army.

Tom Tupy served for six years in the 1990s during Operations Desert Shield and Desert Storm and was a crew chief working on F-18s. Rebecca served for five years and her speciality was electronics on airplanes.

George Tupy was in the special forces working in communications, serving between 1954 to 1956 and was stationed in what was then West Germany during the time of the Cold War.
