The Grand Marshals are ready, Miss Lonsdale has been chosen, it's now time for Lonsdale Community Days.
The annual festival will be held Friday and Saturday, Aug. 11-12, providing a variety of events for families and people from all over the area.
Things kick off on Friday evening with events for children and families. There will be the Lonsdale Women of Today Kiddie Parade and Kiddie Car Cruise. Registration is at 5:30 p.m., with the parade and cruise starting at 6:15 p.m. Both will be held along two blocks of Main Street.
Following that will be the Car Cruise at 7 p.m. with a drive-in movie being held at the parking lot of the American Legion.
Sandy Vlasak, one of the organizers of Community Days, said there will be two movies shown beginning at dusk. The films will be played on a screen that will be set up in the parking lot with the sound broadcast through radios. People can either use those in their cars or bring portable radios. The first movie is a family film, 8 Below. Following an intermission will be the horror movie, The Hills Have Eyes.
