LS County notified of Sanborn land acquisitions
The Le Sueur County Board of Commissioners received word from Joe Stangel of the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources that acreage on the south side of Sanborn Lake has been acquired for purposes of wildlife management.
The project as stated in the notice to the commissioners is as follows: “Notification of land acquired in Sections 35 and 36 of Lanesburgh Township in Le Sueur County for donation to the state and inclusion in the Sanborn Lake Wildlife Management Area, as required by statute.”
The property consists of more than 200 acres on Sanborn, located between New Prague and Montgomery. Wildlife conservation organizations such as Ducks Unlimited and Pheasants Forever have been involved in the acquisition ultimately by the DNR.
