Man is assaulted and robbed

Le Sueur County Chief Deputy David Tietz reported that on Wednesday, Nov. 13, 2013, at approximately  5:54 pm, Le Sueur County Deputies responded to a report of an assault and robbery that had occurred earlier in the day at the Charles Landau residence located in rural Montgomery.

The complainant and victim Charles Landau, reported that at approximately 4 p.m. two Mexican- American males, in their late 20s early 30s and, driving an early 2000 -2500 HD Chevrolet Regular Cab long box pickup truck, white in color, arrived at the Landau residence. The occupants met with Landau and negotiated the purchase of five tires and rims. A price was agreed on, and the tires and rims were loaded into the truck, and Landau was paid.

Landau started walking to his shed to write out a receipt for the purchase when one of the men struck him with an ax handle on the head, rendering him unconscious. When Landau awoke he discovered the money that was paid to him for the tires and rims had been removed from his pocket.

A family member transported Landau to the Mayo Clinic Health System Hospital in New Prague where he was treated and released for his head injury.
