Martha Hrabe, 91
Martha M. Hrabe, 91, of New Prague, died Saturday, March 30, 2013, at the Mayo Clinic Health System Hospital in New Prague.
Martha was born February 13, 1922, in Wheatland Township, Rice County, a daughter of Joseph M. and Christina (Pumper) Machacek. Alifelong resident of the Veseli and New Prague area, she attended Most Holy Trinity Catholic School and New Prague High School. She married Edwin F. Hrabe on November 15, 1943, in Veseli. Martha worked as a clerk at Emil Dvorak’s Grocery Store and on the Park Ballroom kitchen staff. She was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary, St. Wenceslaus CCW, New Prague Senior Citizens, New Prague Historical Society and Catholic Workman.
She is survived by four children Jan “Jenny” Bisek, New Prague, Ed (Diane) Hrabe, New Prague, Josie (Fritz) Ceplecha, New Prague, and Joe (Cindy) Hrabe, Union Hill; 11 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; two brothers Edward (Beverly) Machacek, Shakopee, and Joseph (Jean) Machacek, Bloomington; and sister-in-law Virginia Machacek, Sparta, MI.
She was preceded in death by her husband on March 27, 1979; her parents; and two siblings Alois Machacek and Emmanuel Machacek.
Funeral services were held Wednesday, April 3, at 10 a.m., at St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church in New Prague, with Rev. Kevin Clinton officiating.
Interment was at St. Wenceslaus Cemetery in New Prague. Pallbearers were grandchildren Dan Bisek, Mike Bisek, Julie Bisek, Josie Bisek, Josh Hrabe, Melissa Hrabe, Bethany Hrabe, Victoria Ceplecha, Joseph Ceplecha, Megan Hrabe and Amy Hrabe Duede.
Visitation was held from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday and 7:30 to 9:30 a.m. Wednesday at the Bruzek Funeral Home in New Prague.
