Mary Labin, 99

Mary Labin, 99, of Belle Plaine, died Friday, Dec. 17, 2010, at the Lutheran Home in Belle Plaine.

Mary was born on June 20, 1911, in St. Thomas, a daughter of Henry and Mary (Ginter) Pianko. She grew up on the family farm near St. Thomas and attended country schools. On May 12, 1931, she married Ben Labin at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Lexington. They lived in St. Thomas before moving to New Prague, where Mary worked in an egg hatchery. They later moved to Belle Plaine and Mary worked as a cook for the Lutheran Home. She enjoyed embroidery and was active in the church when she was able.

She is survived by a daughter Mary Ann Wagner, Belle Plaine; grandchildren Dave (Kim) Wagner, Belle Plaine, Karen (Max) Bartusek, New Prague, Mary Kay (Dennis) Schoenbauer, New Prague and Tony Veches, Minnetonka; great-grandchildren Sarah and Ben Wagner, Mary (Jemuel) Houser, Melissa (Tom) Kerber and Michelle Schoenbauer; great-great-grandchildren Josiah and Silis Houser;

sisters Francis Hayden, Hopkins, Rosemary Mosiniak, Minneapolis, Katherine O'Neill, Minneapolis, Amelia (David) Fogarty, Belle Plaine and Dorothy Brown, Belle Plaine.

She was preceded in death by her husband in 1973; her parents; a daughter Elizabeth; granddaughter Mary Ellen; three sisters and three brothers.

Mass of Christian Burial was held at 10:30 a.m., on Monday, Dec. 20, at Our Lady of the Prairie Catholic Church in Belle Plaine.

Interment was at the St. Thomas Catholic Cemetery in St. Thomas.

Visitation was held for one hour prior to the service at church on Monday.

Arrangements were with Kolden Funeral Service of Belle Plaine.
