Mary Labin, 99

Mary Labin, 99, of Belle Plaine, died Friday, Dec. 17, 2010, at the Lutheran Home in Belle Plaine.

Mary was born on June 20, 1911, in St. Thomas, a daughter of Henry and Mary (Ginter) Pianko. She grew up on the family farm near St. Thomas and attended country schools. On May 12, 1931, she married Ben Labin at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Lexington. They lived in St. Thomas before moving to New Prague, where Mary worked in an egg hatchery. They later moved to Belle Plaine and Mary worked as a cook for the Lutheran Home.
