Legion Auxiliary meets Oct. 15 The American Legion Auxiliary will hold its monthly meeting 7 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 15, in the Park Ballroom in New Prague. The bar committee is Anna Mae Witt, Fran Yackly, Maggie Bass and Carol Bauer. The upcoming "Cookie Walk" in November will be discussed. All ladies are welcome to attend.

Wheatland Twin Lakes Sportsmen meet Oct. 15 The Wheatland Twin Lakes Sportsmen’s Club will meet at 7 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 15, at the American Legion in Montgomery. At 5 p.m. club members will meet at the access to clean up its portion of roadway under the Adopt-a-Highway program.

Grief Support Group meets Oct. 15 A Grief Support Group meets the third Tuesday of each month in the parish office building (former rectory) of St. Wenceslaus Church, 215 Main St E, in New Prague. The next meeting is 7 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 15. This group is open to all who are grieving the loss of someone significant in their lives. All are welcome to get the support that is needed at this time in their lives. For more information call Deacon Bob Wagner at 952-758-0463.

Alzheimer’s support group meets Oct. 15 The Lutheran Home: Belle Plaine and its Chapter of the Alzheimer’s Association provide resources and a support group for community members whose lives are touched by Alzheimer’s disease and other memory loss disorders. The monthly support group is free and open to the public. The next meeting is from 6:30-7:30 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 15, at Kingsway Retirement Living in the Ratzkeller. Mark Reese, a counselor at the University of Minnesota, will be presenting "Turning Point." Questions call Sarah Beckius at 952-873-2161. Therapeutic Respite Care is available for loved ones with Alzheimer’s/dementia for the hour, while people attend the support group meeting.

Lonsdale Golden Agers meet Oct. 15 The Lonsdale Golden Agers meeting is at 1 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 15, in the Lonsdale Civic Center. Chicken will be served. Lunch committee is Harriet Budin, Dorothy Krocak and Delores Kalina.

Preventing senior exploitation program Oct. 23 Mike Fahey, former Carver County Attorney and now a district court judge in Shakopee, and Kelley Archer, an information technology security specialist, will do a presentation called CASE, or Communities Against Senior Exploitation, at 9 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 23, at Holy Trinity Lutheran Church in New Prague. This free presentation will alert senior citizens of the different methods of financial exploitation in the community and how to avoid becoming victims. The presentation includes information on identity theft, telemarketing fraud, caregiver fraud and other methods of exploitation and a fraud prevention checklist. This presentation is co-sponsored by Holy Trinity and the St. Wenceslaus Social Action group.

Parkinson Support Group meeting Oct. 29 A newly formed Parkinson Support Group will be meeting at the New Prague Library meeting room 1 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 29. After that the group will meet every fourth Tuesday from 1 to 2:30 p.m. Family members and caregivers are also welcome to attend.
