AA groups meet regularly in New Prague 
New Prague Alcoholics Anonymous holds five meetings each week in New Prague. The organization meets at Holy Trinity Lutheran Church at 8 p.m. Mondays, 8 p.m. Thursdays and 9 a.m. Fridays. Meetings are held at New Prague Alliance Church at 7:30 p.m. Friday and 10 a.m. Saturday. Alanon, for friends and families of alcoholics, also meets at 8 p.m. Mondays at Holy Trinity. Narcotics Anonymous meets at 7 p.m. Tuesday at Faith- Point Lutheran Church (the former State Bank of New Prague building). Call 952-457-2389 for more information. 
 
Scott Historical Soc. hosts Christmas Tea
Create some warm holiday memories at the Scott County Historical Society’s Family Christmas Tea, from 1:30 – 3 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 15. Make a gingerbread house to take home and enjoy tea and holiday treats in the Stan’s House. There is a small fee for supplies. Limited space is available, reservations are required, call 952-445-0378 or email info@scottcountyhistory.org. The Scott Historical Society – Stans Museum is at 235 Fuller St. S, Shakopee. The Stans House is located directly across the alley from the museum on Second Avenue. 
 
Let Freedom Ring’ rescheduled to Dec. 16
Join Uncle Sam to celebrate Christmas and our nation's history. Let Freedom Ring celebrates the joyous history of Christmas and the founding of our nation with inspiring musical performances, dramatic reenactments and insightful historical presentations. Let Freedom Ring has been rescheduled due to last weekend’s weather. It will be presented at Heritage United Methodist Church at 6:30 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 16. Admission is free. Come join us. American Legion meets Dec. 18 
Charles Borak Post 45 of the American Legion, New Prague, will hold its monthly meeting at the Park Ballroom clubroom on Tuesday, Dec. 18. Dues for 2013 may be paid at the meeting. An election will be held for three directors to the Park Ballroom board. Apot luck dinner will be held prior to the meeting at 6 p.m. 
 
Legion Auxiliary meeting is Dec. 18
Charles Borak American Legion Auxiliary Unit #45 of New Prague will have its regular monthly meeting on Tuesday, Dec. 18, beginning with a 6 p.m. potluck. The meeting will follow with a $5 gift exchange and a drawing for the December "Birthday Bouquet." Dues for the upcoming year must be paid by year-end for "continued membership" in the Auxiliary. New Members are always welcome to find out about the benefits and scholarships available from the Auxiliary. 
 
Alzheimer’s support group meets Dec. 18 
The Lutheran Home: Belle Plaine and its Chapter of the Alzheimer’s Association provide resources and a support group for community members whose lives are touched by Alzheimer’s disease and other memory loss disorders. The monthly support group is free and open to the public. The next meeting is from 6:30-7:30 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 18, at Kingsway Retirement Living in the Ratzkeller. "Caring and Sharing" will be the topic. Questions call Sarah Beckius 952-873-2161. Therapeutic Respite Care is available for loved ones with Alzheimer’s/Dementia for the hour while people attend the Support Group. 
 
CAP Agency WIC Voucher pick-up 
The CAP Agency WIC voucher pick-up dates for all residents of Scott County are the second Monday, third Thursday and fourth Tuesday of each month. The next dates are Thursday, Dec. 20, Monday, Jan. 14, 2013. There will be no pickup on the fourth Tuesday of December, due to the Christmas holiday. Pick up time is from 9 a.m. – noon and 1 – 4 p.m. at the CAP Agency, 712 Canterbury Rd. S, Shakopee. For more information about WIC, call the CAP Agency WIC Program at 952-402-9869. 
 
Free IEP Workshop in Prior Lake Jan. 3 
Helping Students Succeed is a free workshop that gives information to parents about special education services, the evaluation process, Individualized Education Programs (IEP), 504 plans, accommodations and modifications. The workshop, sponsored by the National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI) of Minnesota, will be held in Prior Lake from 6 to 7:30 p.m., Thursday, Jan. 3, at the Link Event Center, 2200 Trail of Dreams. Free childcare is available for children ages 6 weeks to 12 years at the Atrium, an indoor play structure. Check in at the customer care desk. To register, contact NAMI at 651-645-2948. Meetings
