Senior Citizens to meet Feb. 2 The New Prague Senior Citizens will meet at 12:45 p.m. Friday, Feb. 2, at the New Prague City Hall second floor meeting room, 118 Central Ave. N. The bus picks up senior citizens for local shopping every Wednesday. For reservations call 952-496-8341. All seniors are welcome to join the club for meetings and cards the first Friday of each moth at 12:45 p.m.

Prairie Quilters to meet on Feb. 8 The Prairie Quilters of the New Prague area will hold their next meeting at 7 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 8, in the second floor meeting room of New Prague City Hall, 118 Central Ave. N. They will have a short meeting and they will also have a show and tell. Hope House pillowcases are due from the three people who are making them. Also people can bring any finished pillowcases for the Cases for Ryan project (the group has until the end of March to meet its goal). New members are always welcome. Parent resource groups to meet in Prior Lake, Savage NAMI Minnesota (National Alliance on Mental Illness) offers parent resource groups to help parents discover resources to meet the challenges of raising a child with mental illness, learn coping skills and develop problem-solving skills. The groups are facilitated by a parent who has a child with a mental illness and who has been trained to lead support groups. A parent resource group meets in Prior Lake from 6-7:30 p.m. on the first Thursday of each month, at River Valley YMCA, 3575 Shepherds Path NW. Free childcare and dinner provided. A daytime group also meets in Savage on the third Tuesday of the month, from 10:30 a.m. to 12 p.m., at Caribou Coffee Company, 7745 Egan Dr. For more information, contact NAMI at 651-645-2948. The next group meetings are tonight (February 1) and February 20. NAMI Minnesota is a non-profit organization that works to improve the lives of children and adults with mental illnesses and their families through its programs of education, support and advocacy.

Family course on mental illnesses offered in Lakeville For anyone who has a family member living with a mental illness, NAMI Minnesota (National Alliance on Mental Illness) is offering a free educational course that helps families gain a greater understanding of mental illness, discuss resources, build communication skills, reduce stress and find support. More than 4,000 Minnesota families have benefited from this course. Join others for this series taught by family members who have walked the walk. This family to family course will meet weekly for 12 weeks. The course starts Tuesday, March 6, and is held from 6:30-9 p.m., at Trinity Church, 10658 210th St. W. in Lakeville.
