River Valley Business Network to meet

The River Valley Business Network Group meets in surrounding communities such as Jordan and New Prague. Business owner and those interested in growing their business are welcome to attend.

Meetings are held twice a month and vary by business locations. The next meeting will be from 8:30 to 9:30 a.m. Friday, March 13, at Valley Bank Minnesota, 200 Creek Lane North in Jordan.

Legion Jr. Conference is Saturday

The Third District American Legion Junior Conference will be held at the Park Ballroom in New Prague Saturday, March 14. Any girls ages 5 through 17 who are interested in joining any auxiliary in the Third District, which includes many neighboring towns, are welcome to attend the conference.

Unit 45 of New Prague is hosting the event, which begins with a 9 a.m. breakfast and includes a lunch at 11:30 a.m. To qualify, girls must have a veteran in their family.

Live Stations set for March 15

High School youth from Saint Wenceslaus Youth Alive groups will present a Live Stations of the Cross at 7 p.m. Sunday, March 15.

Everyone is welcome to attend this portrayal of the Stations.


Alzheimer's group meets March 16

The Lutheran Home-Belle Plaine and its chapter of the Alzheimer's Association provides resources and a support group for community members whose lives are touched by Alzheimer's Disease and other memory loss disorders. The monthly support groups are free and open to the public.

The monthly support group will meet from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. Monday, March 16, at Kingsway Retirement Living in the Lutheran Home Campus-Belle Plaine. Room location will be posted at the front entrance of Kingsway. Caring and Sharing will be the topic.

Legion Auxiliary meets March 17

New Prague's American Legion Auxiliary Unit #45 will meet at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, March 17, at the Legion Ballroom. Reports on the February 19 VA Hospital Quilt/Pillow Stuffing Day, Le Sueur County Council meeting and Clergy Dinner will be heard.

Lunch committee is Mary Jirak, chair; Marlene King, Lorraine Edel and Catherine Menke.


American Legion Post 45 meets Tuesday

Charles Borak Post 45 of the American Legion, New Prague, will hold a regular monthly meeting at the Park Ballroom clubroom at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday evening, March 17.

Lunch and refreshments will be served after the meeting.


Wheatland Twin Lakes Sportsmen meet

Wheatland Twin Lakes Sportsmen's Club will host its monthly meeting at 8 p.m. Tuesday, March 17, at the American Legion in Montgomery.

Everyone is welcome to attend.


Civil War Roundtable meets March 19

The next meeting of the Cannon Valley Civil War Roundtable is scheduled for Thursday, March 19, at 7 p.m. at the Rice County Historical Society, 1814 NW Second Ave. in Faribault.

Guest speaker is Jim Stark, a local Civil War historian. He is a past president of the Northfield Historical Society and of the Rice County Historical Society. He has a special interest in American Civil War history and in the life of Abraham Lincoln. He is well known for his portrayal of General U. S. Grant. Jim will speak on the Significance of the Presidential Election of 1864. He believes that it was the most important election in American history.

A question and answer period will follow with light refreshments served.

St. Wenc. will hold paper drive April 18

St. Wenceslaus School will hold a paper drive from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, April 18, in the church parking lot.

Volunteers will take newspapers, magazines, catalogs, business papers, junk mail, telephone books, folding cartons (cereal, cake mix, crackers, cookies, tissue, pasta, etc.), corrugated boxes, paper egg cartons, and paper bags. People are urged to start stockpiling their donations now.

Money raised from this event will help support St. Wenceslaus School. For more information call Eric and Lisa Schmid at 952-758-5553.
