St. John's breakfast is March 7

St. John's Church of Union Hill will hold a pancake, egg and ham breakfast and bake sale Sunday, March 7, at the KC Hall in New Prague.

Serving will be from 8 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.


Czech Heritage Club will elect officers

The Czech Heritage Club will hold its monthly meeting at 7 p.m. Wednesday, March 10, in the upstairs meeting room of the New Prague City Hall.

Election of Vice-President, Treasurer and a Board member will take place.


Queen of Peace hosts blood drive

Queen of Peace Hospital will host a Memorial Blood Centers of Minnesota community blood drive from 1 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, March 10. The drive is being sponsored by the Queen of Peace Hospital Auxiliary.

Memorial Blood Centers is a nonprofit community blood center that provides blood and blood components to 31 hospitals throughout the metro area, northern Minnesota, and northwestern Wisconsin. Memorial Blood Centers is the sole supplier of blood products for Queen of Peace Hospital.

Donors can give blood every 56 days. Eligible donors can also do an Alyx (double red blood cell donation). The Alyx Component Collection System allows people to give two units of red blood cells during a single donation. To qualify as a donor with the Alyx System, men must be at least 5-feet, 1-inch tall and weigh at least 130 pounds, and women must be at least 5-5 and weigh at least 150 pounds. Both must have a hematocrit of at least 40 percent. People can make an Alyx donation every 16 weeks.

Growing Through Grief meets March 11

Designed to meet the needs of those experiencing grief due to the death of a loved one or those companioning someone experiencing loss, the Growing Through Grief support group at Queen of Peace Hospital can help through education and peer support.

Whether your loss has happened recently or several years ago, this support group can help you through a lonely and frightening time.

The meeting will be held on Thursday, March 11, from 7 to 8:30 p.m. in the Solarium at Queen of Peace Hospital. To register or receive more information, contact the Queen of Peace Education Department at 952-758-8187.


Prairie Quilters meet March 11

The Prairie Quilters of the New Prague Area will hold their next meeting from 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday, March 11, at the State Bank of New Prague.

Kathy Rieck will do a demo on the making of Molas. Also members should bring items for show and tell.

On Saturday, March 13, the group will hold its quilters retreat at Holy Trinity Lutheran Church in Paul's Place from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. There will be a speaker at 10 a.m. Members should bring a bag lunch, a treat to share, and whatever work they want to do, along with their machines and sewing paraphenalia.

St. Wenceslaus Fish Fry is March 12

St. Wenceslaus School will hold its annual Fish Fry from 4:30 to 7:30 p.m. Friday, March 12, in the church basement.

Menu includes fish (baked or fried), au gratin potatoes, cole slaw, dinner rolls and a cookie.

Tickets will be available at the door.
