Rice Co. History Walk on Aug. 13 The Rice County Historical Society turns 90 years old this year! To help celebrate, they have planned a history walk. Participants will be able to discover the hidden history all around them on either a 1.5 mile or 3 mile self-paced walking route that features many historic Faribault sites. The walk is self-guided, and there will be information stations and RCHS volunteers along the route to point out some of the sites. The walk will be from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 13. Registration for the walk will be from 9 to 10 a.m. on August 13, and walkers may begin as soon as they complete their registration. Participants are encouraged to take as much time as they wish. Registration for the walk will be held on the Rice County Historical Society grounds, near the log cabin in Faribault. There is a cost for adults, students and free for those 12 and under. All interested participants age 21 or older will also be entered in a drawing for a free pint at the F-Town Brewing Company. (Ten winners will be drawn. Must be present to win.) Free family concert at Heritage Church on Aug. 13 A free family concert will be held at Heritage United Methodist Church, 200 E 280th St., 6 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 13. There will be treats and all are welcome to attend. Heritage United Methodist Church is east of New Prague on Highway 19.
Area Education Foundation to meet on Aug. 15 The New Prague Area Education Foundation will host its Annual Meeting at 6 p.m. on Monday, Aug. 15, at the New Prague Golf Club, 400 Lexington Ave. S. The public is welcome to attend. More information can be found at www.therootstogrow.org.
Lonsdale Golden Agers to meet Aug. 16 The Lonsdale area wide seniors (Golden Agers) will hold their meeting at 1 p.m. on Tuesday, Aug. 16, at the IC Civic Center. All seniors over 60 are welcome to attend. A Chicken Supper will be catered in by Fred’s Market Place at 4 p.m. For additional information call Don at 507-744-2408.
