NAMI helping provide support group in Prior Lake on Aug. 22 NAMI Minnesota and MOFAS (Minnesota Organization on Fetal Alcohol Syndrome, FAS) are teaming up to provide parents a resource support group to help parents meet the challenges of raising a child with a mental illness and/or FAS, learn coping skills and develop problem solving skills. A group meets in Prior Lake on the fourth Monday of each month, from 6:30-8 p.m. with a light dinner served at 6 p.m., at River Valley YMCA, 3575 North Berens Rd. NW. The next meeting is August 22. NAMI Minnesota is a nonprofit organization that works to improve the lives of children and adults with mental illnesses and their families.

PFLAG meeting will be Aug. 23 at Holy Trinity PFLAG (Parents, Families and Friends of Lesbians, Gays & Transgenders) support group meets the fourth Tuesday of each month at 7 p.m. at Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, 1300 Main St. E, in New Prague. For questions call 952-292-6758. The next meeting is scheduled for Tuesday, Aug. 23.

Suicide Grief Support Group meets Aug. 23 Family, friends and anyone who has lost a loved one to suicide are welcome to attend the August meeting of the Suicide Grief Support Group. The meeting will be held from 7-8:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Aug. 23, at the Mayo Clinic Health System, 301 Second St. NE in New Prague. Please enter through the Emergency Room doors (southwest entrance) and take the southeast elevator (#2) to the lower level and follow the signs to the Jameen Mape Conference Center. Jessenland Irish Festival is Aug. 28 Minnesota's first Irish settlement is the site of the Jessenland Irish Festival on Sunday, Aug. 28. Irish music fills the air on the historic church grounds of St Thomas the Apostle in rural Henderson. Tour the church built in 1870 and walk the grounds of this parish established in 1855. The festival includes a Mass at 10:30 a.m., live Irish music featuring Broken Spoke, Irish dancers, food and beverages, a children’s area, a chicken dinner, a history program in the church, a raffle, silent auction, a Zero K fun run and a beer garden featuring beer from U4IC brewery. This activity is made possible by a grant provided by the Prairie Lakes Regional Arts Council from funds appropriated by the Minnesota State Legislature.

NPHS Class of ’66 to meet on Aug. 19 There will be an informal gathering of the alumni of New Prague High School Class of 1966 at 11 a.m. Friday, August 19, at The Fishtale Grill, 200 Co Rd 37, in New Prague.
