NAMI offers family education classes

The National Alliance for the Mentally Ill in Minnesota (NAMI-MN) is offering classes for Minnesota families who have a relative with mental illness. The 12-week classes are provided at no cost to the participants.

The Family-to-Family Education Class is taught by trained family members who can contribute ideas and knowledge from their own experience and who truly understand the issues faced by families attending the class. Participants gain a greater understanding of mental illness, cope better, worry less and feel empowered to advocate for better treatment and services for their relative. Many family members describe the impact of taking the course as life changing.

Classes will begin in Savage on Wednesday, Aug. 31, 7 p.m. at the Savage Public Library. Call Janet at 952-890-1669 to register.
