Senior Citizens to meet Aug. 4 The New Prague Seniors Citizens will meet at 12:45 p.m. Friday, Aug. 4, at the New Prague City Hall second floor meeting room, 118 Central Ave. N. The bus picks up senior citizens for local shopping every Wednesday. For reservations call 952-496-8341. All seniors are welcome to join the club for meetings and cards the first Friday of each month at 12:45 p.m.

‘Our Czech Heritage Club’ will meet on Aug. 9 Our Czech Heritage Club will hold its August meeting at 7 p.m. on Wednesday, Aug. 9, at the New Prague Memorial Library, 400 Main St E. The public is welcome to learn how to investigate their genealogy on their own. The club will show people popular websites and give tips and techniques to help people find the information on their own. Also a note to members: Our Czech Heritage Club’s annual picnic will be held at Pioneer Power this year on Friday, Aug. 25, starting at 6 p.m. Free beer and pork burgers to all paid up members. A movie (to be decided) will be shown at dusk.

Czech Heritage Club featuring family tree program on Aug. 16 The Czech Heritage Club, beginning at 7 p.m. on Wednesday Aug. 16, will have a program by George Mikiska on How to Start Your Family Tree. It will include on where to look for information locally, nationally and worldwide, including help with some Czech translations and helpful websites. The presentation is part of the meeting, which will be held in the upper room of New Prague City Hall, 118 Central Ave. N.

Parent resource groups meet in Prior Lake, Savage NAMI Minnesota (National Alliance on Mental Illness) offers parent resource groups to help parents discover resources to meet the challenges of raising a child with mental illness, learn coping skills and develop problem- solving skills. The groups are facilitated by a parent who has a child with a mental illness and who has been trained to lead support groups. A parent resource group meets from 6-7:30 p.m., in Prior Lake on the first Thursday of each month, at River Valley YMCA, 3575 Shepherds Path NW. Free childcare and dinner provided. A daytime group also meets in Savage from 10:30 a.m. to 12 p.m., on the third Tuesday of the month, at Caribou Coffee Company, 7745 Egan Drive. For information, contact NAMI at 651-645-2948. NAMI Minnesota is a non-profit organization that works to improve the lives of children and adults with mental illnesses and their families through its programs of education, support and advocacy.
