Suicide Grief Support Group meeting is Aug. 27 The Suicide Grief Support Group will meet from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 27, in the Jameen Mape Conference Room (lower level), at the Mayo Clinic Health System (Hospital) in New Prague. Enter through the Emergency Room doors (southwest entrance). Take the southeast elevator marked "2," to the lower level and follow the signs to the Jameen Conference Center. Family, friends, and anyone affected by a suicide death is welcome. No registration is required and there is no fee. Call Sally Schmid at 952-758-4735 with any questions.

Sportsman’s Club meets Aug. 29 The New Prague Sportsman's Club will be having its monthly meeting Thursday, Aug. 29. The meeting starts at 7 p.m. at Flipside Bar and Grill. Scott County HHW Facility closed Labor Day weekend The Scott County Household Hazardous Waste (HHW) Facility and RE-USE Room will be closed Saturday, Aug. 31, in observance of the Labor Day Holiday weekend. It will reopen Wednesday, Sept. 4. The Scott County HHW Facility and RE-USE Room are located at 588 Country Tr. E (Hwy 282) in Spring Lake Township. The HHW Facility provides an opportunity for proper management and disposal of hazardous household chemicals as well as electronics, appliances, and car/light truck tires. The RE-USE Room contains hundreds of usable products that are available to take home and use for free. Separated & Divorce Support Group meeting is Sept. 3 Area Separated & Divorce Support Group meets the first Tuesday of the month from 7-8:30 p.m. at St. Wenceslaus Church, lower level, 215 Main St. E. in New Prague. Alliance for Battered Women in need of volunteers Southern Valley Alliance for Battered Women is in need of volunteers to answer the 24-hour crisis line from the comfort of your home. The group is also seeking volunteers to facilitate support groups and provide childcare. Free training for the crisis line begins Saturday, Sept. 14.
