Mikiska descendants plan family reunion

The descendants of Mathias Mikiska/Mikyska are having a family reunion at Richter’s Woods County Park at noon on Saturday, July 31. Those attending are asked to bring memorabilia, photos and stories to share.

Barbara (Mikolasek) Mikiska, the wife of Mathias, and her family came to the United States of America in 1869. The family coming to America consisted of Barbara and her sons, Frank, Bartos and Albert. The other children, namely Anna, Jan, Josepha, Maria, Elizabeth and Kasper, remained in Czechoslovakia. In 1905 Vaclav, a son of Kasper, came to America. Those who emigrated originally settled in New Prague.
