Monica Coughlin, 81
Monica Coughlin, 81, of Montgomery, died Monday, Feb. 25, 2013, at Mala Strana Health Care in New Prague.
Monica was born August 16, 1931, in Lime Creek, MN, a daughter of Dennis and Maurisse (Mortell) Shea. She graduated from Fairmont High School and married Morris Coughlin on September 12, 1953, at St. John Vianny Catholic Church in Fairmont. She farmed with her husband and later worked at Rite Way Packaging in Northfield. Monica was a 4-H Parent for many years, a member of the Bakers Dozen Extension Group, and the Holy Redeemer CCW. She enjoyed reading, gardening, sewing, and playing cards.
She is survived by children Cathy (Ed) Kodada, Lonsdale, Colleen (Jim) Hill, Manhatten, KS, Dan (Judy) Coughlin, Lonsdale, Corinne (Duane) Torkelson, Murdock, and Caroline Fernandes (and friend Virgil Edwards), Collierville, TN; eight grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and siblings Marion Shea, Minnetonka, and Jerry Shea, Gulfport, MS.
She was preceded in death by her husband in 2006; her parents; siblings Marilyn Loftus and Donald Shea; and son-in-law Al Fernandes.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m., Friday, March 1, at Holy Redeemer Catholic Church in Montgomery.
Burial will be at St. Michael’s Cemetery in Montgomery.
Visitation will be held from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the Schoenbauer Funeral Home in Montgomery, and Friday at the church one hour prior to the services.
